Summer School of Fish

The Summer Program consists of ten 5-day sessions that combine daily fishing experiences with on-shore educational enrichment activities designed to teach the community’s youth both the art of fishing and the importance of understanding and protecting South Florida’s environment.

 

Schedule & Times

The Academy runs through Summer break.
Monday – Friday, 8am-3pm

Activities

Campers will participate in:

  • Offshore Fishing
  • Rigging Instruction
  • Knot Tying
  • Casting
  • Cast-net Throwing
  • Fish Location Techniques
  • General Boating Principles
  • Basic Navigation

Field Day Friday!

Every Friday from 8am-3pm campers will participate in an educational day, filled with games, tours, and an awards ceremony. A parent or guardian is welcome to join in the festivities. Lunch will be served.

A portion of each Friday will be spent learning about the art of fishing, the species of Florida’s waters, how to protect the animals and waterways, among other educational components, with hands-on presentations by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, FWC and local experts!

School Break & Weekend Programs

Available programs for weekends and for those days during the school year where children are out (teacher
work days, holidays, etc.).

Schedule & Times

Daily/Weekly, 8am-4pm
Program runs during scheduled breaks, based on public/private school schedules. Consult website calendar for updated school break programming.
